ince he was a kid, Justin Lowe would create little books with his mother. He'd tell her stories, she'd write them down. He drew the pictures. Around the age of 10 or 12, he wrote a publisher and pitched them an idea of publishing his work and marketing it as a book from the youngest author ever. They told him to check back with them after college. Some 21 years later, those childhood dreams are starting to come true.

A decade ago, Justin designed a sticker of a strange character—a half octopus, half unicorn—that quickly stickered its way around Portland, OR. Soon the character had even more merch, including a self-published picture book written by co-creator Kevin Diller. The book became a huge hit around Portland, and developed a devoted following. The first OCTICORN book was formally published by Balzer + Bray / HarperCollins in the Spring 2016 and is now available nationwide.

Lowe is also a filmmaker, who has worked on music videos for Electric Six, The Dandy Warhols and Duran Duran, and is currently writing a screenplay.

He lives and works in Portland, Oregon.

Justin Lowe is represented by Elena Giovinazzo.
