arret Freymann-Weyr (née Weyr) is the author of six novels. Her first picture book, French Ducks in Venice, is forthcoming from Candlewick Press. Her work has been translated into five languages, including Japanese.
Freymann-Weyr received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina and her M.F.A. from New York University. Her work has been put on a variety of “Best Of” lists, including the ALA, PW, NYPL and Capitol Choices. She received the Michael L. Printz Honor award for a book she thought was about loyalty that turned out to be “a thoughtful exploration of sexuality.”
She is a native of New York City, lived in DC for many years, and now makes her home in Davidson, NC with her dog, her husband and a cat.
