arah Weeks has written more than forty picture books and novels for children and young adults. She is a graduate of Hampshire College and NYU and is currently an adjunct faculty member in the prestigious Writing Program at the New School University in New York City.
Ms. Weeks’ tour de force novel, So B. It (Laura Geringer Books, 2004) appeared on the LA Times bestseller list and was a Parents Choice Gold Medal winner, an ALA Best Book for Young Adults and the recipient of the 2007 Rebecca Caudill, Dolly Gray, and William Allen White Awards. She has written two four-book series of humorous middle-grade fiction, Regular Guy (HarperCollins) and Boyds Will be Boyds (Scholastic). My Guy, the third in her popular "Guy" series, is currently in development with Disney for a feature length, live-action film. Her newest contribution to the genre is the hilarious middle-grade novel, Oggie Cooder (Scholastic, 2008). Her novel, Jumping the Scratch (Laura Geringer Books, 2006) was a Book Sense 2006 Summer Children's Pick. Ms. Weeks' popular picture books include Mrs. McNosh Hangs up Her Wash, If I Were a Lion, Without You, Peek in My Pocket and Ella, of Course. Her forthcoming books include the picture books The Brass Bone (HarperCollins), Catfish Kate (Simon & Schuster), and Sophie Peterman Tells the Truth (Harcourt). She is also hard at work on a new YA novel, As Simple as It Seems, as well as a sequel to Oggie Cooder. She has written a number of I CAN READ titles, including the popular Pip Squeak series and her newest contribution, Macaroni and Cheese. She has published with HarperCollins, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, Harcourt, and Dial Books. Ms. Weeks' titles have sold well over two million copies including several foreign editions.
In 2006 Sarah helped found A.R.T. (Author’s Readers Theatre), a group of traveling authors that includes Avi, Pam Munoz Ryan, Richard Peck, Brian Selznick, Walter Dean Meyers, Sharon Creech, Katherine Patterson and herself. They have been invited to perform dramatic staged readings at venues such as TLA, ASILOMAR, NCTE and PLA, and are currently booking into the year 2009. For more about A. R. Sarah is a tireless promoter, visiting schools throughout the country, talking to children about writing, reading her books, serving as author-in-residence, and speaking to teachers and librarians at national conferences and literary events.
