ndrea Davis Pinkney is the author of 20 books for children. She has written several picture books, novels, and works of non-fiction, including the Caldecott Honor Book and Coretta Scott King Honor Book Duke Ellington, illustrated by Brian Pinkney, Let it Shine, a Coretta Scott King Honor Book, and Alvin Ailey, a Reading Rainbow selection. In addition to her work as a children’s book author, Andrea is a children’s book editor. She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and frequent collaborator, illustrator Brian Pinkney, and their two children.
