oss MacDonald is a contributing editor of Virginia Quarterly Review and a contributing artist for Vanity Fair. In addition, his illustrations have appeared in The New Yorker, Newsweek, Time, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, The London Sunday Telegraph, Atlantic Monthly and Harpers.
Ross has written and illustrated humor pieces for Newsweek, Time, Mother Jones, The Times Op Ed page, and others.
In addition, he has worked on many movies, including Seabiscuit, Van Helsing, Duplex, The Legend of Zorro, The Alamo, Infamous, Mr. Brooks, King of California, and National Treasure 2, supplying illustrations and props as well as consulting on period design, paper, printing and writing instruments.
Ross’ work has been honored in many competitions of design and illustration, including American Illustration, Print Regional Design Annual, Communication Arts, The society of Publication Designers, the AIGA, and The Society of Illustrators, and was the subject of a one man retrospective at the New York Times. At this time, Ross is the Vice President of ICON, The Illustration Conference, which will be taking place in New York City from July 2-5, 2008. His has written and illustrated three picture books, all published by Roaring Brook Press: Another Perfect Day, Achoo! Bang! Crash! The Noisy Alphabet, and Bad Baby. In addition, he has illustrated Hey Batta Batta Swing! The Wild Old Days of Baseball by Sally Cook and James Charlton (Margaret K. McElderry Books / Simon & Schuster), and the upcoming Bye-Bye, Crib by Alison McGhee (Paula Wiseman Books / Simon & Schuster). He is currently working on several new projects, both picture books and chapter books.
Ross lives in Connecticut with his wife, two children, two dogs, three cats, and a large collection of 19th century type and printing equipment. |
