native of Wayland, Massachusetts, Michael Kaplan wrote plays and musicals throughout high school, most notably “Aeneas!” – a musical comedy adaptation of Virgil’s Aeneid. He continued writing at Princeton University, where he contributed material to the Triangle Club revues. Upon graduation he moved to New York where a number of his plays received productions and staged readings, primarily at The Ensemble Studio Theatre, where he is a member.

For the past twenty years, he has worked as a television writer and producer on over a dozen network sit-coms, including such landmark series as “Roseanne” and “Frasier.” For his work on the latter, he received an Emmy award for best comedy series, as a member of the producing staff.

He currently lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife and three children. After spending many years making up stories to tell his children, he finally decided to write some of them down.
