nn Arnold is a still-life painter in Berkeley. Her early works, from the 1970's, were executed in gouache on paper, but she now works exclusively in oil paints on walnut panels. Her subjects are chiefly fruits and vegetables from her own garden and the local farmers' markets, but she occasionally paints old pottery or porcelain from her own small collection. She has had exhibitions at a number of galleries over the last twenty years, both in London and in the United States; currently her fine art is represented by the North Point Gallery in San Francisco.

As an illustrator, Ann is best known for her watercolor drawings in Fanny at Chez Panisse by Alice Waters (1992). Firehorse Max, the first picture book she illustrated, was published to critical acclaim by Michael di Capua Books / HarperCollins in 1997. And her own The Adventurous Chef: Alexis Soyer was published by Francis Foster Books / Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
